Ans: It is argued that reporting of violent crime in newspaper and TV causes fears among the individual and such as should be banned. I partially agree with the statement, as excessive coverage can be harmful ,but I think it should not be completely banned for newspaper and television programs.
There are a number of reasons why I partially agree that excessive media coverage of violent crime in newspaper and television can be harmful. One possible reasons is that frequent reporting of crime to create a anxiety, fear among the people. When the people constantly to see the news of forgery, murders, theft, cyber theft, cyber bulling, suicide, robberies, assault, rape, political conge station, they may feel dangerous in our society and people. After that the people feel mental stress, mistrust, and they can change there daily routines , such as avoiding the alone walking on the road and avoiding traveling at night. Moreover, some crime specialist argue that details of crime to influence the offenders. For examples, Eidul Fitar vacation time Bangladesh television coverage a forgery Bangladeshi currency note making by people to use a digital technology. After the media coverage young people to influence to making a forgery money note. Although , they have no permission of the government to making or printing new currency.
In addition , it is true that banning such newspaper and television is not good solution. The media has responsibility to telecast a proper news ,including domestic violence, business, crime economy, social issue, political issues, but sometimes it may be affect there safety and security. For instance, crime report to rise public awareness and it help to take a necessary steps. Additionally, media coverage to help the judicial system to collecting the digital evidence and natural justice for victim. For example, in Feni Nusrat murder cases victim video cliff and her statement.
In conclusion, there are a lot of argument about the point of views, that media coverage of violent crime can be influence few criminals, that the reasons banning is not solution. I think media coverage to rises public awareness, to help the judicial system in Bangladesh.
