Nowadays, thanks to the development of techonology, downloading books or music freely on the internet has becoming easier and easier. From my perspective, the advantages of this trend are predominantly overshadowed by its disadvantages.
On ther one hand, some people vocally assert that downloading coyrighted content for no charge does not affect the economy. To be more specific, many people have seldom ability to earn money but still want to enjoy their favourite music or books, such as students, the disable, or workers. Therefore, they feel more comfortable and happier when they can access to these sources without paying. In other words, they do not need to allocate a budget in entertaining part.
On the other hand, I would opine that the benefits pale in comparison to the drawbacks of this trend. Firstly, downloading content freely can be considered as disrespectful to the authors. It is noteworthy that authors have to devote lots of their energies and times to create a product. Moreover, composing can be considered a main job which is earned money for artists. Thus, enjoying authorised content without paying can lead to the collapse of artists’ career. Another demerit of this trend is the plagiarism. It is obvious that some people tend to take advantages of using copyrighted content illegally for earning money for themselves. For example, these bad people can edit, and then repost these lisenced songs, and books to several platforms on the internet. As a result, the authors do not gain any profits from their own product while anonymous individuals on the internet earn more fame and money.
In conclusion, downloading original songs or musics for no charge infringes to copyright protection law, and this trend also makes an adverse impact of the reputation and career of the artist.
