Despite the fact that a city life can be an uphill battle, cities have become the center for thousands of people who migrate in search for uplifting their lifestyle.
One of the crucial aspects in a city is the availability of infrastructure. Taking an example of a developing country, Nepal, the capital Kathmandu itself has been outnumbered by citizens migrating from villages or other suburban areas with a hope for a quality living. As a result, the government has been unable to manage infrastructure like drinking water supply, fuels like petroleum and gas, etc. to about quarter the population here. The population density has taken toll beyond par and thus, the consumption in replenishable resources have grown exponentially.
Another noteworthy scenario in the urban setting is the competition for survival. With migration from almost every corner of the country/world, the city is expected to have opportunities for all. But as years have passed, the opportunities may have been captivating, yet, the struggles to achieve them are no less painful. Today, many people are left with almost no option but to look for works with less stipend. This, in turn, creates an unhealthy market because some are reluctant to work with least wages, merely for survival.
The government has a huge role to play here. It can, firstly, focus on decentralizing the power and resources to every developing core area around the country. Provision of various incentives in those areas would mean that people might not need to migrate for a city life. Similarly, division of places according to zones such as residential, commercial, institutional etc. can help manage a systematic approach to any developed city. Lastly, educating and empowering the youths in any nation is the most vital way to make sure the future is well secured in every nooks and corners of that nation.
