In contemporary world, an increasing number of people are wearing high-end clothes. In my opinion this is a negative development because it is fostering a class system in society, and instrumental in promoting crime.
One of the main disadvantages of the multiplicity of fashionable clothes is the augmentation of the notion of social disparity in public. As the members of well-off families wear these expensive branded outfits, poor families envy them for not having the luxury to buy any such article. This results in depression in them and fortifying the notion of class system in their minds. Resultantly, it could become a precursor of social conflict that could damage the very fabric of society. A recent survey conducted by a group of social scientists revealed that people of the lower strata of society consider people from upper middle class wearing in-trend expensive garments as their enemy and held them responsible for their destitute.
Furthermore, fashionable attires have a direct correlation with the surge in crime rate. To stay relevant and in limelight, underprivileged individuals resort to illegal means to afford them. Consequently, they do not hesitate to steal, or perform any other outlaw activity for money generation and ultimately buying such clothes. Researchers in the field of social anthropology have established a strong link between these wants and crimes.
In conclusion, more and more people have started wearing trendy fashionwear in today’s world and I believe this is a negative trend due its disastrous consequences for the society in the shape of increase in crime rate and heighten social disintegration.
