Vegetarian and vegan diets have become increasingly popular among a majority of people for their healthy benefits and contributions to protecting the wildlife. However, there is still a number of drawbacks regarding this lifestyle. This essay will shed light on both aspects.
One of the main advantages of green diets is their positive impact on personal health and certain animals. Including more vegetables and fruits into your meals can provide necessary nutrients such as fiber, vitamins,… which are crucial factors to help you get fit quicker, cure acne and feel more refreshed and energetic. It is proved that this type of diets keeps you full for longer, therefore, preventing binge-eating sweets and deserts. Moreover, those vegetarian and vegan lifestyles also play an important role in protecting the animals that are constantly being put down for food supply namely pigs, cows and sheeps. This is a great way to preserve the variousness of the wildlife and ponder the human’s morality towards the cattle.
Despite the wonderful benefits, the said diets also come with certain disadvantages that might deter some individuals. People who adopt this lifestyle are more likely to suffer from chronical illnesses like anorexia and eating disorders because of the lack of protein that only meat can produce. It will result in them being extremely weak and pale in the long run, making it harder for them to grow muscles and become stronger. On contrast, this movement is becoming more aggressive with the popularity of social media. Many friends of mine have expressed their discomfort about how they keep being attacked for not choosing to follow a vegetarian diet. Some members of the lifestyle seem to let things out of hands and hurt other’s feelings.
In conclusion, vegetarian and vegan diets certainly bring advantages for us in terms of physical health and the wildlife. Nonetheless, it still lacks some specific minerals and their community is hardly being empathetic to others who don’t resonate with them.
