Band 6+: Most high-level positions in companies are filled by men even though the workforce in many developed countries is more than 50 per cent female. Companies should be required to allocate a certain percentage of these positions to women. To what extent do you agree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is argued that men own a great number of high-level positions in companies, while women consist of above 50 percent of the employers in quite a few developed nations. This essay totally agrees with the statement which business owners ought to consider a certain proportion of these positions for female employees because such action motivates other women employees, and improves diversity for the company.

The first reason why companies should allocate a proportion of management jobs to their women employees is that it can boost other females’ motivation to work better. This is because women will know that if they work hard and show their merits, they can level up their position in the company. As a result, companies will have more motivated employees, which help business owners pave their way to success. For example, when Digikala, a well-known online shopping company in Iran, announced that more than one-third of their managers were women, the number of women who wanted to work at this company considerably increased, according to their annual report.

The second main reason is boosting diversity. Having an environment with different people and genders could result in more innovative ideas and novel solutions for probable problems. That is to say as men and women have different perspectives, it could be beneficial for the companies. For instance, Snap an online taxi service in Iran could overcome the social challenges of the safety of women drivers by helping women managers’ ideas in that matter.

In conclusion, considering certain positions for females not only could improve women employers’ motivation but also help diversity in the workplace.
