There is an interesting phenomena nowadays where people put strong curiosity on food cost rather than how it is produced. In my point of view, these circumstances are interestingly true since people only follow the food trends and the availability of cheap restaurants, while famous people and the discount drives people in selecting foods.
There is a common conception that people are exposed to food trends recently. This situation creates a massive sense in people to follow and purchase the most popular food in the society which means paying attention only to the price and the popularity, neglecting the way it is produced. A good evidence for this is low-priced cuisine in Jakarta where people collectively buy only because it is famous and less pricey. Moreover, it is inevitable that the existence of inexpensive housing food tremendously proves this situation. There is significant evidence that urban or rural people mostly eat at the places where the price can be tolerated. It is a fact that those people drive by the concept that how much money they spend on food is more important than the concept of how the foods are made.
Furthermore, there is an underlying assumption that the exposure from influencers affect people’s food preferences. The vast majority of people believe that famous actors or actresses play a crucial role in influencing the community to purchase foods or snacks. In addition, the price cut method is interestingly impactful. Besides the famous persons, reducing the price drives more consumers, and this situation makes them more likely to choose products that are both endorsed by trusted figures and perceived as affordable. As a result, it increases customer engagement and boosts the profit.
To sum up, people today are more focused on the cost and popularity of food rather than how it is produced. Influencers and discounts significantly impact consumer choices, leading them to prioritize affordability and trendiness over production methods.
