These days, the consumption of natural resources such as oil and water is rising at an alarming rate. There are various reasons for this, but some corresponding measures could be taken to tackle the problem.
To begin with, there are many reasons for this situation. The first reason for this problem is the burgeoning growth in world population which has increased human demands for natural resources for daily use; therefore, more natural resources are being exploited and used to satisfy people’s demand in daily life. This is best illustrated with the example of filling petrol for motor vehicles like cars and motorbikes, supplying water for washing and irrigating. Another cause is the low awareness of using natural resources economically and the extravagant use of many individuals such as always turning on lamps in the house or rinsing water even if they do not use them.
Regarding several solutions to the problem, the first possible solution is investing more in the use of renewable energy to reduce the dependence on non renewable energy. The major barrier to this solution is the expensive price of renewable energy systems so that the government should support residents to buy solar systems at an affordable price. Besides, the government also needs to consider different types of renewable energy such as solar energy, wind energy and hydropower energy to generate electricity for fulfilling residents’ daily needs. Another possible measure is setting a specific limit on the exploitation and consumption of fossil fuels. It can be done by heavily fine individuals and companies using natural resources irresponsibly.
In conclusion, it is clear that there are some reasons for the excessive consumption of natural resources, and the aforementioned steps, including supporting residents buying solar systems and introducing strict laws about the exploitation and consumption of oil could be taken to tackle the given problem.
