These days, the survival of many wild animals is being threatened by a number of reasons. This essay will point out those causes and give solutions for them.
There are some underlying causes for this problem. Firstly, one of the main reasons for making wild animals on the verge of extinction is illegal hunting and poaching. There are many people still strongly believe that body parts of wild animals like rhino horn, ivory, bile bear and more can be used as medicine. This wrong belief lead to the high demand of these kind of stuff, making the overpoaching to meet the demand. Secondly, deforestation also attribute to the loss of wild animals. As the population grows, trees are chopped down to make way for factories, neighbourhood and to be used as production material. The fast degradation and the loss of primary forest make animals have no place to reside and to procreate. These two reasons all lead to the decrease in the number of wild animals.
To address these problems result from these causes, there are some solution that can be tackled. Firstly, the government should introduce laws to impose stricter penalties on poachers. Harsher punishment can deter people from committing crime because it can make them think thoroughly and carefully before deciding to do it. Secondly, it is necessary to educate people and raise their awareness. In general, poaching is to serve the high request of people wanting to use high valuable items. It is urgently necessary for them to understand the consequences of disruption in the ecosystem originated from overpoaching. If customers understand the issues may be caused, the demand of wild animals will decrease. With these two solutions, the overpoaching of wild animals will definitely go down.
In conclusion, the increase of endangered animals is caused by illegal hunting and the loss of forest. To address these problems, new laws with stricter punishment should be used along with raising people’s awareness.
