In recent years, an increasing number of students haveconsidered receiving a legal education abroad, as it provides them with newopportunities and valuable experiences. Nevertheless, studying law in a foreigncountry has both advantages and disadvantages.
To begin with, the main benefit of studying law abroad is the possibility to learn about a foreign legal system and legal practice, which can be extremely valuable not only for practical work but also foracademic research and the development of legal systems around the world. As aresult, studying law abroad allows students to understand the legal field froma wide perspective rather than focusing only on the legal system of one country,as a consequense, future legal professionals will be able to compare variouslegal systems and identify their strength and weaknesses. A vivid example is person I know who has studied law at two universities, first in her own country, after which she graduated a foreign university. Therefore, she became familiar with two complitely different legal systems, which allows her to work in the field of private international law, wherecitizens of these two countries are involved.
Notwithstanding a great benefit discussed above, there is also asignificant drowback, which can leadto a decrease number of students who prefer to reiceve legal education abroad. The main disadvantage is high costof foreign education, including tuition fee, accommodation and travel expenses, which can be difficult for students themselves to pay for. For instance, nowadays, law is one of the popular fields among young people, as a result tuition fee isnoticeably higher than other academic fields. However, not all students, especially those who do not receive financial support from their parents, canafford these expenses. As a consequence, the number of students who have theopportunity to study law abroad is considerably lower than it could be.In conclusion, although
studying law abroad requiressignificant financial resources, I believe that its advantages are greater thanits disadvantages, as students can become highly qualified legal professionals, gain valuable knowledge and experience, and eventually earn enough to covertheir initial educational expenses.
