Band 5: Nowadays it is possible to use computers and mobile phones for automatic language translation and there is no need for human translators and interpreters do agree or disagree? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

It is generally agreed today that humans intelligence can be substituted by digital technologies for various interpretations. Obviously, digital technologies can translate speech because of artificial intelligence. What is certain, artificial intelligence is not precious enough and can translate things incorrectly. The present essay aims to discuss that digital technologies is not a good alternative for human translators and interpreters.

First of all, using artificial intelligence can be helpful to those people who want to eliminate minor errors not to translate the whole context. For one thing they are not precious as the humans are they might make several mistakes in translating. Another thing is that they are not able to determine the exact meaning of a word due to there are several meanings for each word such as bow one of the meanings is to bend another one is a kind of weapon, based on it’s occasion the translation would be different that only humans are able to detect the useful meaning.

Secondly, translation requires a quick analyze and response. In the first place artificial intelligence is not able to do so because it does not have human senses that plays a pivotal role in high accuracy. An example may help clarify the point, in an international assembly if we use digital facilities to translate speeches,misunderstanding may happen and the main point would not covey appropriately. In the second place, artificial intelligence needs to be programmed thoroughly and this commission takes a lot of time hence ; it is an incomplete technology in the modern community and should not replace humans.

Last but not least unlike artificial intelligence, humans intelligence is potentially effective for interpreting special expressions, because humans know that it is a term but such technologies interprete it word by word which can cause problem. professor Carter at Rome University remarked that about 85% of computers and phones do not have the ability to recognize terms such as Google translate.

To sum up it can be stated that ,most of the nowadays technologies are not able to translate everything flowness .clearly, human intelligence is quite influential in the field of translation and cannot be replaced by digital technologies.
