In an era characterized by social norms and the cost of living, it has become increasingly common for individuals to prefer moving to urban cities, particularly in developed nations. While this trend has certain advantages, I believe it does more harm than good due to its serious consequences, such as the rising cost of healthy food and job opportunities.
To begin with, many individuals prefer to live in cities. However, this leads to serious problems. In my opinion, unhealthy food choices significantly impact their overall quality of life. Fast food, processed meals, and sugary drinks increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes. As a result, people experience a decline in physical health and energy levels. The availability and affordability of fast food have made it a popular option. Take my home country, Uzbekistan, for example. As more young people migrate from rural areas to cities, the demand for food products increases. This leads to higher prices for fresh food, making healthy meals more expensive. Nutritious food, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins, is often unaffordable for people from low-income backgrounds. This economic barrier ultimately causes poor dietary habits and increased stress levels, negatively affecting academic performance and overall well-being.
When people work full-time or part-time jobs, they earn a livelihood that helps them meet their basic needs and support their families. Consequently, this enhances their overall quality of life, offering financial stability and a sense of security. However, without dedication to their responsibilities, they may miss tight deadlines, struggle with heavy workloads, and face career setbacks, which could hinder their professional growth and limit future advancements.
On the other hand, young people today usually move to urban areas in search of better salaries or career prospects, but they often spend excessive time on social media. If people dedicate a huge amount of time to scrolling through platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Telegram, binge-watching television shows, and playing video games, they are likely to develop an addiction to online entertainment. This leads to a sedentary lifestyle and reduces physical activity, thereby increasing the risk of chronic health conditions such as obesity.
In conclusion, although working in schools and other places has its benefits, individuals should not move to cities due to the rising cost of living and healthy food options. It has more negative impacts on life than positive ones.
