In recent years, most young individuals are allowed to use computers which enable them to play online games. This essay explains several negative reasons of this issue and suggests some possible solutions that could alleviate the situation.
Spending majority of time in front of computers weakens the concentration of students as well as family bond. Most of youngsters, who are spending almost half of their day so as to play games, are experiencing a decline in academic performance and they are not being able to concentrate on making progress on their studies which results in failing to get into university, struggling to find a proper job after graduating the school in light of not owning any capabilities that would make them qualified candidates. Moreover, people are becoming indifferent to the relationship with their family members due to being unable to spend more time with them. Since all they do is sitting by the screen and having fun which brings about sense of isolation and being less supportive to each other. Those are not the only negative effect it also makes them vulnerable to be influenced by social media and their peers in a bad way owing to not having parental guidance.
One of the most effective ways of mitigating the issue is limiting the screen time of students which helps them to keep the balance of study, rest, and entertainment. Youngsters can not control their screen time even though they are aware the cons of their behaviors since they do not feel the full responsibility of actions they are taking because of their age which serves them as an excuse. However, parents can lead them into right direction by showing them the right way by teaching them what is right and what is wrong to do. Another approach is that parents should spend more time together with their younger family members in order to strengthen family ties. Consequently, children feel less lonely and more sociable. Not only with improved social skills but also they feel less attracted to video games.
To sum up, playing computer games has become a serious problem by causing big distraction on students’ academic performance and affecting family relationship. Nonetheless, this issue can be addressed by setting a limit on children’s screen time and spending more meaningful time with family members.
