Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 7+: Nowadays, many people prefer to buy things online rather than in traditional shops. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Online shopping has become increasingly popular nowadays. Due to rapid growth of online shopping platforms, people rather buy things on websites than spend a lot of time in shopping malls. However, no matter how comfortable it is, there are several disadvantages to this.

One of the main advantages of online shopping is that it saves your time. People can save a lot of time by scrolling through the sites to find whatever suits them the best without needing to leave the house. Another advantage is that customers tend to have wider product choice by shopping online. You will have numerous choices of clothes, colours and sizes. And the most important advantage is convenience. Sometimes when you are really busy or not in the mood to leave the house you can purchase anything with just one click.

Despite these advantages there are also a few disadvantages. No matter how comfortable and easy online shopping can be there is a big risk. Customers may get scammed, because not every site is real. There are certain sites that are designed to commit fraud and the worst-case scenario is getting your personal information stolen. Another disadvantage is not being able to physically examine the product, which means you will not be able to identify its material and quality. As a result, the products that customers receive may fail to meet their expectations, which can lead to disappointment.

In conclusion, although online shopping can involve certain risks, I believe that its advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Because it saves your time, it is very convenient and you get to have multiple product choices.

Some people believe that the best way to reduce traffic congestion in cities is to increase the cost of driving, for example through higher fuel taxes and congestion charges. Others think this unfairly punishes ordinary citizens and that public transport should be improved instead.

Some argue that the most effective way to reduce the number of vehicles on city roads is to introduce toll roads and raise fuel prices. Others, however, believe that it is the government’s responsibility to provide better public transport. I side with the latter view, because authorities owe their citizens affordable and convenient infrastructure in […]
