In recent times, most people tend to buy products in large supermarkets instead of local markets and small shops. I strongly believe that this is a positive development, because of appearence of higher competition among manufacturers and variety of products.
First and foremost in comparison with small shops, larger ones can suggest range of products which are in deficit or even absent. As an example, Iranian immigrants could not fully piece out their diet , because of absence of mahorani – type of carrot, which was avaible only in their hometown. Nevertheless, most people able to consume this beneficial vegetable now.
Another significant consequence of this trend is competition between manufacturers, because each producer wants to be better than opponents and gain higher amount of clients. For instance, in 1990s there was an increasing demand in extraordinary games, because of appearence of first gaming consoles. So two companies were inspired to create games “Mortal Combat” and “Street Fighter” which became pioneers of graphics in online games. As a result, being in competition led to products, which would not be as comprehensive as without it.
In conclusion, I think that growing number of people with tendency to purchase products from supermarkets, which has resulted from diverse choice of production and competition among manufacturers, is a desirable development. People now can take advantage of things which are not avaible or in deficit in local markets and update faster than in small shops.
