Fast food has gained immense popularity among younger generation due to its tempting flavors and taste which appeals to their taste buds. As a result, many of academic institutions have establish their way of generating extra revenue by selling these items during the lunch hours. Some people may argue that, this might lead to serious health concerns in children others do believe that the audience is mature enough to decide their option of meal. I strongly believe, resorting to this business has more of negative development rather than positive and this essay will discuss the same.
Firstly, it has been scientifically proven that the junk food is loaded with preservatives to increase the shelf life and not to mention the high calorie and fat content which affects the overall physical and mental well-being. But thanks to social media, this has become quite a lifestyle luring the adolescents and these production companies go even extra mile to boost their income without worrying about aftereffects it has on health of consumers. During the last few years, many of school students have diagnosed with severe heart issues, obesity and digestive problems hampering the overall growth of body.
Secondly, the sugary drinks like Pepsi or Coke have found to increase the adrenalin rush which can further disrupts the neurological functions of brain and makes it difficult for students to concentrate while studying. There has been plethora of reports published by WHO which has showed, increase in patterns of school violence and changing behaviors among adolescents in support of my point.
To conclude, although it may not be profitable, but school authorities should be persuaded to sell more of fresh fruits and nourishing snacks in interests of healthier population. It is their role to educate the young people about the benefits of balanced and wholesome diet and not to compromise on their health for just few extra dollars.
