It is observed that currently, delaying childbearing is becoming a trend among married people. This essay will analyze certain reasons for this phenomenon and its effects.
The tendency towards late birth giving among parents has two key rationales. When it comes to their children’s living conditions, they can have enough finances to invest in their children’s future, such as health, education and living expenses. Without childcare responsibilities, married couples can devote their time and effort to their career, which means that they can earn more money. Another key cause is reducing mental health problems for people after having kids. A prime instance is attending several childcare courses. The more time people spend learning, the more knowledge they can gain, particularly in taking care of kids and choosing suitable food for them, so husbands and wives can alleviate stress when becoming parents.
Two emphasized effects need to be paid attention to if this trend is maintained. Firstly, the escalating rate of health issues in babies will trigger long-term problems in their lives. Down Syndrome is a prime example, which is the culprit of stunted growth in children, making it difficult for them to have a normal life. Secondly, the government will shoulder the responsibility for the lack of young labourers. They will release more money to hire overseas workers, which leads to soaring operation costs. Hardly can the citizens buy goods at affordable prices. Without recruiting foreigners, there aren’t enough employees to work in factories and firms.
In conclusion, creating a better life for their children and reducing parents’ mental health issues can be the contributing factors to becoming parents later. However, we should not overlook the negative impacts of this trend because of the rise in health problems among children and the lack of workers.
