Today, more and more people tend to live with friends or on their own rather than with their families. I personally believe that this should clearly be regarded as a negative development for reasons that I will elaborate on below.
It seems true that living with friends or alone can make people more independent to face everyday life issues. However, I believe that such a drawback would gradually be overcome as people grow older in since rich life experiences naturally shape independence and knowledge.
Taking into more consideration, we should also highlight the erosion bonds that this trend brings about. It is believed that living far from family reduces parental supervision because there is no longer a family to serve as a reminder. As a result, individuals feel that they have only just gained freedom of expression in their lives. A sense of happiness sometimes transgresses the norm existing in society and disturbs the social environment, for example making commotion, drinking heavily and holding a party late at night. Furthermore, it might be said that a lack of meaningful interaction, known as social reality testing, becomes a crucial problem among people today which can lead to social isolation and to loneliness. This communication assessment usually comes from those who are older and who have more experience, which should be obtained by living with family.
In conclusion, I feel the lack of parental supervision makes this a negative development overall. Living with family should maintain peace in residential areas, strengthen family ties and improve mental health.
