Currently, numerous individuals prefer to meet new persons online more than normal. In my opinion, this is a negative development because this is an unnatural process, and people are not afraid of being crude to others on the internet.
Spending much time with someone on the internet is not natural. The main goal of meeting someone is having a date with, being friends or just spending leisure time, and doing all these online is strange because we cannot share our all feelings via our computers or mobile phones. People do not talk to each other with just sounds, they use gestures, and this gestures are more important than our words, and communications on the internet do not let us show our feelings. For example, it has been shown that people tend to keep their online conversations shorter than normal because if they do not see each other, they get bored in a short time.
When people are online, they are more brave at being crude to others than in normal meetings. They are not afraid of bad reactions, so they do not pay attention to their words, and can harm others. For instance, in the social media platforms, there are plenty of people threat other, or some people blackmail others.
In conclusion, I believe that face-to-face meetings are better because online is not a natural option, and the online environment causes people to be crude to each other because they are not afraid of being responsible for the results.
