Currently, people across the globe have access to large number of E-newspapers and E-magazines. It is argued that E-newspapers and magazines will entirely demolish in the near future. I completely agree with the point of view because countries will have to fulfil their sustainability objectives, and online platforms will become user friendly.
First of all, printed newspapers and magazines will completely demolish so that countries can meet their sustainability targets. This is because paper manufacturing requires a large quantity of wood, which results in cutting of many trees, causing a severe damage to environment. Similarly, paper-based newspapers need to be transported from printing press to the retailer and finally, then to customers. So, these both activities significantly contribute to carbon footprints; moreover, now every country has their sustainability objectives to reduce carbon footprints to control the global warming. Therefore, to reduce these carbon foodprints and save trees, authorities may pass the rule to all online platforms that E-newspaper and E-magazines should be allowed to access at the free of cost as currently, people often buy the printed newspapers because E-newspaper are far more expensive; that is why, newspaper might be paperless in the near future.
In addition, in the future, online platforms will be advanced to such an extend that no one will require to buy printed newspaper. This could be happened by introducing AI tools, which may facilitate user to read the summary of newspaper and also could allow to translate the news into a native language. These aspects are not possible in the paper-based newspapers. For instance, in Pakistan, although locals have accessed to E-newspapers, they are in English language, and this is not understood by the locals of Pakistan, so, in the future, if the online platforms become so advanced that they can easily translate it into any language, in which they want. These locals will stop purchasing printed newspapers; as a result, printing press will have no option and they may close the printing of news.
In conclusion, I believe printed newspapers will no longer exist in the upcoming future. For one thing, countries will have to meet their sustainability targets; and for another thing, online platforms will become more advanced that facilitates user in many aspects.
