In this day and age, getting advice for medical problems from the internet apart from a doctor has become an approach that citizens have adopted. While this trend has its benefits, I believe that the drawbacks are more substantial.
On the one hand, there are some benefits associated with gathering suggestions for medical obstacles from the websites and online consultants. Firstly, accessing medical information through the internet nowadays is at a reasonable cost, which can eliminate the need for a costly doctor’s visit. This is particularly the most optimal way of collecting medical advice for those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The time-saving aspect is another perk in this case. From the perspective of people who become increasingly busier with their work or studies, visiting a doctor can be inconvenient since not everybody might add a doctor’s visit to their hectic schedules.
On the other hand, despite the above favorable aspects, I believe that this measure would have some problematic implications that should receive more attention. The foremost detriment of this is that people can put their valuable health at risk, if they solely trust in what they find on the internet. For instance, a seemingly minor medical condition depending on online information without getting one’s health condition diagnosed by a professional can actually be a sign of more serious illnesses and result in more severe consequences. Moreover, such online resources might also be difficult to understand. From these perspectives, this development is mainly disadvantageous.
In conclusion, despite certain merits that collecting tips for the medical problems through online information can bring about as a cost-effective and time-saving solution, I maintain that these are overshadowed by the peril to personal’s health.
