Recent technological advancements have a drastic impact on life, including the manner in which individuals communicate. In my opinion, this is having both positive and negative consequences in equal measure.
New communication technology has influenced people’s way of interaction with one another in a positive way. More convenient and time-saving interactions are now possible to conduct on a 24/7 basis around the world. Modern telecommunication tools, such as Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp have also served an advanced mode of connections. For example, people now prefer to use instant electronic messaging like emails instead of sending letters physically. The same is true in businesses where many companies are adapting online transactions to attract a large number of customers through Ecommerce, websites and social media with minimum marketing budgets.
On the other hand, the virtual world has driven people to the less sociable environments. With the availability of online applications and services, it has caused society to lose out on many aspects of personal relationships, such as love and affection. The rapid development and adoption of new technology have also led to miscommunication. For example, a business must increase its product management when dealing with online customers. This demanding work-related task requires instant responses from the employees and a misrepresentation of the customers may occur during this busy time. Also, the workers will eventually have no time to talk to their friends and teammates because of this increased connectivity with work via technology.
In conclusion, not only has technology benefited people’s interactions with others but also it has also formed less emotional touch of communication.
