In recent years, travelling abroad has become more affordable and accessible. While this trend can be seen in a negative light in some regards, I consider it to be largely a change for the better, as travelling does not only broaden one’s horizon but also boost overall wellbeing.
Admittedly, it is crucial to recognize that travelling to other countries can lead to several adverse outcomes. First and foremost, tourism can have negative effects on the environment, such as pollution and destruction of natural habitats. This is because some people are quite negligent and unaware of the consequences of contamination. Secondly, there may be some language difficulties. As long as people from countries that speak minority languages move to a bigger and more developed region, they will automatically need to know their native language to get their message across in real-life situations and simply interact with locals. As a result, tourism may cause some significant problems if they are not sorted out beforehand.
However, I contend that tourism is predominantly a beneficial trend. A key reason for this is that it is a means of interaction with different cultures, traditions, and religions. Travelling abroad means that people will have a new experience and perspective about the world. For example, if a Canadian person visits Uzbekistan, he will find out about traditions such as Navruz, Eid, and Ramazan Eid. Furthermore, another compelling reason is that travelling promote relaxation and rejuvenation, in addition to personal growth. People can have a break from overwhelming everyday life and develop new skills. For instance, when people want to step outside their comfort zones, they start to explore new fields and relax this way. Ultimately, travelling is a win-win situation for both the personal growth and rejuvenation.
In conclusion, while there are valid concerns regarding travelling abroad, I believe that the positive aspects of this trend far outweigh the negatives.
