University students sometimes prefer addition of optional subjects along with the main course whereas other students believe to focus only on the major subjects to earn the degree.
The journey from securing an offer in university to completing the degree demands a lot of effort and time. Some students think it is beneficial to learn subjects concerning the degree with entire enthusiasm and dedication while some believe it is rewarding to learn few additional subjects to incorporate a wide range of knowledge. In my opinion, it is helpful to add other topics besides the main subjects as it will always become fruitful in the future.
By concentrating on the main subjects for a course, a student can excel in his degree and build a more focused as well as strong foundation for his career. For instance, the MBBS student is dedicated to all his subjects concerned to the medicine and surgery. His theoretical as well as practical skills are well-practiced and refined. Henceforth, he will become an excellent medical practitioner in the future.
In contrast, if a student opts for other vocational subjects or gain knowledge about various topics through internship programs; it will aid in boosting his overall knowledge and confidence. It will not only support his existing major course but also achieve a level of success superior to an ordinary qualification. To exemplify, if the same the MBBS student pursuing his degree in medical science, chooses to expand his knowledge in community health by joining a short course of internship in a non-profit organization it will open a new opportunity in his career to become a doctor with expertise in public health enhancing his overall career profile.
Taking all things in account, my opinion is that procuring additional skills and knowledge with the present degree will always facilitate learning although, it may require more dedication, hard work and enormous concentration.
