Band 7+: Our relationships with work colleaques or classmates are as important to our happiness as our relationship with our family. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Relationships play a crucial role in shaping our happiness. While family is often considered the cornerstone of emotional support, I strongly believe that relationships with work colleagues or classmates are equally important for our overall well-being.

First of all, despite having a longer relationship and living together with families doesn’t mean that they’re the only source of happiness we can rely on. Working a 9 to 5 job involves colleagues in our day to day life workplace, providing emotional support which contributes to overall happiness. Aside from emotional support, engaging in learning with classmates or colleagues brings a joyful and memorable experience which is an opportunity for personal growth. For instance, when our achievement is recognized, the importance and appreciation we feel saturates our pleasure. However, going back home and having a warm hug and a talk with our family also brings peace along with happiness, knowing that we are in a safe place.

Similarly, building a strong connection with people around us provides a sense of belonging that doesn’t only contribute to one’s happiness but also other aspects of emotions such as hope and gratitude. Thus, our relation with work colleagues, classmates, and our family brings different kinds of bliss in life that is essential as we grow older.

Likewise, the popular phrase “happiness is found in shared moments with others” shows how interactions with various people in different ways and environments can bring joy in forms of emotional support and even simply just in presence that is needed.

To conclude, I am confident that while family relationships remain foundational to happiness, our connections with colleagues or classmates play an equally vital role in shaping our emotional and psychological well-being. Given the amount of time we invest in these relationships and the significant influence they have on our daily lives, they are as important to our happiness as familial ties. Striking a balance between these relationships is essential for a fulfilling and joyful life.
