The number of people moving from one country to another country has definitely increased over the years due to pursuits of better educational or job opportunities. There are certainly some advantages in terms of multiculturalism and personal growth, but the lack of infrastructure to accommodate the growing numbers and no close support system is something that shouldn’t be ignored.
Moving to a new country with different set of rules, regulations and culture practices can be a daunting task for most people. However, it can be especially beneficial in dealing with people who may have different lifestyles that is hard to witness in their native land. These type of interactions can increase a person’s virtue interms of acceptance and tolerance. The society as a whole can benefit from multiculturalism, while most people focus on the negatives. A society built on learning from each other’s cultures can implement better rules or remove harmful practices by the way of learning.
The biggest problem is the lack of infrastructure that can facilitate this migration. It is no secret that some countries are more popular for migration than others, but due to these high migration numbers it can cause the current infrastructure to lag behind. This can not only cause frustration for the new arrives but also the locals too. Also individually, when you move to a new country, on average there is no support system. If someone is behind on rent or can’t buy food that week, they can’t ask a loved one for the support that they may have gotten back home in the same situation. This can be quite isolating until people find a new support system in the country they migrated to.
So in conclusion, while migration can promote multiculturalism and individual growth, it can also be quite isolating at the beginning and the lack of infrastructure to accommodate these growing numbers can frustrate the people living there.
