Crime and Criminal activities have become a crucial issue in the modern world. Some people believe that criminal should have sentence to prison, while other argue that they much be involved in community works according to their circumstances of their crime rather than sending prison directly. Although these both arguments are valid, I believe there should be provision of compensation to the victim and criminal should given a chance to improve. This essay will discuss both views and present own perspective:
On the one hand, why criminal should send to prison is that they could do similar criminal activities in near future. This is because once people involved in criminal activities repeats their crime to meet their day-to-day life needs. For example, if a person gets good money by stooling someone’s mobile phone or purse, he will never go for job. He would in search of chance to rob someone. As a result, these activities will be threat to society and increase the criminal activities. Therefor, sending them to prison is better idea to minimize the crime in the society and discourage the people who involved in such activities.
On the other hand, sending criminal to the community work rather than sending directly to prison is better option for both society and that criminal. Since, involvement of such people in community is beneficial as they get the job which could decrease the crime rate and different community work would be completed at faster pace. For instance, many prisoners in the past were used in different development work by the government or ruler of the state which also helpful for economic sector of the country. Therefore, providing a community work according to the circumstances of their crime is far more beneficial then sending them to prison.
Nevertheless, in my perspective, the chance of self-improvement must be given to the criminal and the provision of compensation to the victim must be provided from the side of criminal. This is because it might be helpful for both victim and criminal as victim get financial support and criminal get chance to self-improvement and live better life. For example, different reports show that various criminal who involved in crime in past are now living respectful life in the society after they got chance to live without prison. As a result, they also encourage the youngster not to involved in the criminal activities and thereby reducing crime rate.
In conclusion, sentence of prison might be better in serious crime; however, involving them in different community welfare works might be better option. In my opinion, giving them a chance to self-improvement and living respectful life in society is supportive to human right.
