It is often argued that people enjoying themselves in the 21st century have a better quality of life compared with past life. Although people in the past enjoyed certain advantages, I largely agree with that view because of advances in healthcare, technology, and living standards.
Without doubt, in the past, people preferred a person meeting instead of talking on the phone because at that time they did not have enough technology, and many people did not know how to use this type of technology. For instance, in the past five decades, if someone wanted to talk with their relative or friends, they would prefer going face-to-face. This is because when people met with each other, they knew each other’s feelings. In addition, in the past there was not a lack of transport, such as cars, buses, and others, due to this air pollution being good while people walked a lot on the streets. Therefore, people became affectionate and caring toward one another, and they valued each other.
On the other hand, in the 21st century, so many things change, especially healthcare and technology. Right now they have modern vaccines, antibiotics, and advanced hospitals that have wiped out or controlled deadly diseases like polio and smallpox, helping people live longer. For example, if people face some challenging ills in these days, they can avoid them apart from some dreadful ills because we have better hospitals and advanced medicines, and they can live longer than they expected. Furthermore, our technology there is a huge difference between past and now life since in the past they did not have a mobile phone, laptop, or other crucial technology. However, they have a lot of opportunities for doing something like talking with different national people and using personal computers for working. Let’s say in the 21st century people can keep in touch with their parents or friends no matter where they live, and it can also make our work easier. As a result, they can live better than in their past life because of these kinds of occasions.
In conclusion, although people in the past may have benefited from simpler lifestyles and closer face-to-face relationships, I believe that modern life offers a better quality of life overall, particularly because of advances in healthcare and technology.
