The tendency of immigrations for better living standard and job opportunity driven by the cutting-edge technology has sparked a contentious debate over whether freely choosing workplace and accomodation carries more advantages or disadvantages. While some stakeholders emphasize its drawbacks, I do believe these drawbacks are overshadowed by the benefits.
Admittedly, allowing people to settle wherever they wish to could pose a threat to some specific areas. This is due to the fact that the inhabitants are more likely to set up their homes in megacities to pursue the relentless convenience and higher employability, which put a strain on the infrastructure of these cities. Hanoi witnessed such a situation when a great amount of dwellers have immigrated to this metropolitan, directly deteriorating the quality of life there as the life amenities cannot meet the demand of the citizens, Furthermore, relocating to another place for professional career might lead to the disproportion of experts between different area and so-called brain-drain. As observed in the case of Vietnam which is struggling to promote its economy while experiencing human capital flight since its inhabitants are embolden by the tempting work opportunities from foreign conglomerates. Therefore, the shortage of qualified labors could limit innovative ideas in development.
On the other hand, others, myself included, reckon that the aforementioned phenomenon is fraught with merits, which could cancel out its downsides. Initially, rural – to – urban immigrations while burdening on the city infrastructure, simultaneously serving as a catalyst for the wide spread of urbanization. An exemplification for this is Hanoi, this capital has merged the neighboring provinces such as Ha Tay and Ha Dong in an attempt to alleviate the circumstance. This facilitate these provinces to comprehensively improve not only finance but also academic standard. Last but not least, gathering the linguists together could create the optimal work environment. This can be seen in Covid 19, when the professions from all over the globe assembled to manufacture a vaccine against the Coronavirus. Thanks to this collaboration, the vaccine was quickly put into use.
In a nutshell, in spite of several marginal demerits, deciding where to live and work should be made by the citizens because it brings about more substantial advantages.
