With the recent surge in road traffic accidents, some individuals are of the opinion that motorists taking yearly examinations is the best way to reduce this trend. Although this is a good way to make the roads safe, i believe heavy financial punishments on faulty drivers would go a long way in solving the problem.
The introduction of annual assessments for motor drivers would be a step in the right direction to bringing down the number of unwanted accidents. These individuals will constantly be educated and tested on the necessary safety rules and regulations thereby reducing the level of ignorance on the part of the drivers and increasing their chances of making better decisions in delicate situations. For instance, without the prior knowledge that brakes should not be stepped on when a tire is dislogded from a moving vehicle, the disaster would be far reaching.
However, in my opinion, putting heavy financial punishments on drivers found wanting by the government such as paying a huge fine is the best way to ensure road safety. By implementing this rule, many motorists will desist from breaking regulations that help with smooth traffic. To illustrate, vehicles which refuse to obey the traffic lights, though a minor offence, should however be charged to pay a large amount of money.
In conclusion, whike taking annual tests by vehicle drivers is an important way to curtail the recent rise in road accidents, heavy fine punishments on defulting drivers will constrain most motorist to do the right thing consequently making the highways safer.
