Water bodies are getting severely affected by the rise of plastic pollution. Things which are made from harmful plastic materials such as bags, bottles, packages cause disaster to the environment. This essay will shed light on the problems caused by this phenomenon and the measures which can be implemented by humans and governments to address this issue.
To begin with, aquatic species are reaching extinction. Due to increased amount of plastic floating on the surface of oceans, seas and rivers, the living conditions of marine animals is getting affected leading to its exponential rate of death. As an epitome, I read an article that was published last year in journal that researchers are predicting more plastics in the seas than fishes by 2050. Moreover, the effect of this pollution does not limit to aquatic animals only. The climate is also affected in the recent years where seasonal changes are not uniform as it was supposed to be. Some countries are even facing extremely harsh illnesses due to this pollution often leading to epidemics and outbreaks.
There are several actions which can be taken by governments and public to solve this issue. Firstly, no plastic campaigns can be arranged to create awareness regarding the pollution and harmful damages produced by the use of plastic materials. In the past, government has banned the use of plastic which was not suitable for the ecosystem. However, this was not sufficient as the use of plastic in few countries is still dominating. Secondly, one of the effective methods would be to impose fines for individuals who throw plastic dishes, wrappers or bottles in public areas. In addition, people can organise cleaning camps as done by many influencers on social media.
To conclude, plastic has caused enormous ill-effects to the atomsphere which is irreversible but stoppable. The combined efforts of each and everyone including the government is needed to put a full-stop on the usage of plastics.
