Nowadays, online socializing is highly adapted by the majority of people instead of physical meetings. The advancement in technology builds faster connections but as a result individuals become socially isolated and avoid attending social gatherings. In my view, the following developments have negative effects and need to be controlled before it’s too late.
Social media is an incredible platform to build networks. A plethora of people connect with peers overseas who have the same scope of interests, all because of these online platforms. Moreover, youth are highly addicted with the online networking platform. This is to say that numerous applications are launched that help finding connections and people over the country, not only that, even sharing their pictures and having online conversations with them. Besides, online meetings can easily be scheduled parallel with interfering with other works that are already ongoing.
In my point of view, socializing online is a negative development as it makes users more isolated in a closed environment to begin avoiding social gathering in public due to lack of confidence for approaching physically. Physical meeting is the add-on key point for healthier connections with individuals. This is because face-to-face meetings reflect interest in other people along with their work life. Furthermore, meeting in-person will improve communication skills and confidence that approach more individuals, especially in public events.
To conclude, although online social networking is more effective in terms of time management and new connections, being isolated will degrade the confidence and approach for face-to-face meeting which is essential in daily activity.
