In recent years, prevention and treatment of diseases have become a subject of growing debate in many developing and developed societies. Although people have different views about this issue, I completely agree with the statement. From my prospective, prevention is more significant, mainly because it offers a long-lasting remedy and helps a whole community at once. This essay will discuss these reasons along with relevant examples.
To begin with, one major reason why prevention is better than cure is that it provides a long-lasting solution to people. For instance, in many African countries, there are some viral fever infections which are affecting numerous residents. In this way, instead of building new healthcare sectors, governments can introduce new vaccine to remove viral infections from societies. For instance, if a government produces a vaccine for this infection, only fewer people will visit hospitals. In this way, there will be no need to build new hospitals. In addition, governments can also focus on nutrition of its citizens. For example, the governments in Africa can build new water-cleaning plants and can allocate more financial funds for better nutrition. Consequently, with an appropriate diet and clean water households will not be affected from viral infections.
In addition, another key reason to support the statement is that prevention works for entire community. As we know, building a new healthcare sector and introducing new advanced facilities will help only certain people. On the other hand, prevention has equal benefits for all residents. For instance, the Corona virus’s vaccine was helpful for entire humanity. As we know, developing nations were unable to provide appropriate treatment to Corona affected people. In this way, due to the Corona vaccine these developed nations was able to cope with this challenge. Additionally, there are many United Nations medical teams, working for the prevention of Polio virus in developing countries instead of providing treatments. Consequently, this development has successful outcomes in many South Asian countries, particularly, in Pakistan.
In conclusion, although treatment and research have some benefits, I believe that prevention is more significant for humanity because it provides long-lasting solution and helps a large number of residents.
