It is often discussed that the development of medicines for diseases is a too expensive a procedure that can be replaced by the development creation of disease prevention measures. In my opinion, it makes sense.
First, according to the Economist magazine, hundreds of new viruses and bacteria appear on earth every year. Consequently, the pharmacology industry simply cannot keep up with the development of these microorganisms. The production of a drug requires enormous money, because it includes complex research, expensive clinical trials and further improvements. Moreover, a cure for one virus may be useless in the fight against another virus, whereas preventive measures may coincide and be equally effective for a large group of viruses at once.
Secondly, after conducting a number of independent surveys, it was found that 80% of respondents do not trust medicines. People believe that the real medicine is not sold in pharmacies and that everything they buy is fake. Some scientific studies confirm that unscrupulous manufacturers can indeed neglect the quality of medicines in order to reduce their cost. In this case, the medicine loses its meaning. In the same questions, 70% of respondents replied that they would be happy to learn more about preventive measures and their prospects in the future. People still trusted folk remedies for prevention, but they are open to new ideas
In conclusion, it is true that a preventive measure may be a more effective solution to fight diseases than finding cures for these diseases. However, you should make informed decisions about investing funds and strive to avoid using medicines, but always try to produce vaccines in case of emergencies.
