Band 7: Public Spaces: Development of a sports complex or a new library in the neighborhood. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

Dear Community Head,

Thank you for conducting this survey to gather feedback from all residents about renovating our society’s facilities. In my opinion, building a new library has more significant benefits compared to constructing a sports complex. Although a sporting complex draws attention from all generations to sports, we already have our community sports center to attract everyone. As we are a developing community, it is essential to enhance our library with immense collections; we currently have one non-spacious library where no one can rely on it due to insufficient books.

Although not only students but also seniors depend on our neighboring library for research and reading purposes, the advancement of the library with all genres of books will attract everyone to the new library; this could be a new source of income for our community. Additionally, when residents start visiting our library, it helps to build a good rapport with one another and enhance our unity.

Secondly, our new generations currently depend on online resources for reading; if we were to develop a state-of-the-art facility library, then that could be an initiative to preserve paper-based reading. Moreover, while engaging with the library and books, they will start socializing more without online social life, which might help to reduce their screen time. Consequently, it aids development in both personality and academics.

For the aforementioned reasons, I strongly believe that constructing a new library has more preferable benefits compared to a sports complex.
