Nowadays, human activities are threatening the health of the environment. Environmentalist are of the opinion that the quality of soil in different regions of the world has decreased. In this essay , I will explain the most important reasons and some possible solutions for them.
First of all, we can blame companies for the poor quality of the soil. Unfortunately, most of these companies lack in proper waste treatment system which in turn results in irresponsible dispose of harmful wastes to the environment. In fact, these wastes include toxic materials that negatively impact the quality of the soil making it infertile. In addition, excessive farming activities can be another underlying reason for reduced quality of the soil. Farmers try to provide enough food for the people all around the world. To fulfill this demand, they over-cultivate and use different chemical fertilizers and pesticide to supply more food. These activities may also decrease the quality of soil by reducing nutrients and minerals. Such activities is very harmful, and can make agriculture unsuccessful in long run.
To solve the mentioned problems, there are some possible methods. First, governments should introduce strict rules to prevent companies releasing their wastes to the environment in an unhealthy way. Putting taxes on disposing wastes to the environment can be a good way to reduce the amount of wastes put to the nature. These taxes can be utilized by governments to provide appropriate waste treatments for companies and factories mitigate the amount of contamination. Moreover, farmers should be forced to use modern farming methods which can help them produce more food alongside avoiding damaging the environment. Thanks to the technology, nowadays there are organic fertilizers which are environmentally friendly. These fertilizers not only harm the soil but also, they make it fruitful by providing a wide variety of minerals.
All in all, wastes releasing from companies and unsuitable farming methods are considered as the most important underlying reasons for reduced quality of the soil worldwide. However, by passing effective laws and utilizing new technologies and farming methods these problems can be addressed. These considerations can pave the way to save the soil of our planet and keep it healthy for the use of our next generations.
