Scientists believe examining the kids at 3 years old can predict whether they will become offenders. I totally disagree that human nature has a major impact on illegal acts and preventing children from becoming criminals is a viable approach.
The reasons why I disagree is that family background is a main contributor to crime. The imitation of children plays an important role in their development because it allows them to learn new things quickly and efficiently by observing people around them. Moreover, when parents who are the closest persons to their kids engage in criminal activities or substance abuse, it has a direct relationship with negative character traits such as violence, aggression and arrogance. Owning to the fact that the kids consider their fathers or mothers as role models. As a result, children growing up in the chaotic homes with these parents are likely to commit crimes and pass on traumas to their offspring.
However, there are some feasible ways to stop children from breaking the law when they grow up. Firstly, mothers and fathers have a duty to create a healthy environment for their offspring where they feel loved and safe. If the parents are addicted to alcohol or drugs, they need to attend rehabilitation programs, as only sober parents can become fully present for their children to offer emotional or physical support. Secondly, society is also responsible for creating nurturing settings for the kids by offering programs that teach parenting skills. Moreover, authorities can provide after-school activities where children interact with their friends and learn to help people.
In conclusion, I believe that upbringing environment is a key factor in breaking the law. And by the collective effort between parents and society, we can help children from problematic families become good citizens.
