Band 7+: Scientists frequently warn people about the need to save energy to prevent harmful consequences for our environment, yet most people have not changed their daily patterns of energy use. Why do people not change their habits? What can we do to encourage people to save energy?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Despite warnings from experts about the necessity of saving energy to avoid damaging consequences to our environment, individuals continue to use excessive energy in their daily routines. This essay will examine the reasons for this and offer potential solutions to encourage them to limit wasting energy.

Several factors contribute to their reluctance to save energy. One of the major factors is a lack of awareness of the consequences of our habits. Individuals do not tend to feel responsible for the whole community. This challenge is a complex worldwide issue, and individuals feel powerless to address it directly. Moreover, over decades, they have usually developed/kept habits such as using vehicles with engines instead of public transport to go places. Furthermore, they do not see a clear effect on the environment when they change their behavior.

To address these challenges, educational campaigns can help people understand the importance of energy conservation and how to use energy efficiently, which would enable them to save energy affordably and easily. After that, people can see positive outcomes that lead to changes in their habits. For instance, replacing light bulbs with low-energy ones will save over 300,000 VND per bulb per year. At this time/As a result, individuals can conserve power as well as save money, allowing people to realize the immediate benefits of their daily lives.

When people can stop reducing wasteful energy practices in daily life, there will be a dramatic impact on the environmental global issue in the future.
