Diseases linked to obesity are on the rise among the global population today. The main cause of this is the aggressive marketing of unhealthy food and the most valuable solution is to regulate and limit this type of promotion.
Promoting fast food misleads people into thinking that it is harmless and instead of spending time on preparing healthy food, it is preferable to buy and eat ready-made meals without any bad consequences to their health. In order to tell viewers about harmfulness, every advertisement will show time saving, affordable prices and delicious taste. Children are especially into this because they are highly impressionable, so almost every food company tries to involve some celebrities which are known by those kids, to create promotions and recommend this food. For instance, the number of obese people in Russia has grown by 5% in 2025.
To tackle this problem, the government should introduce strict restrictions on these fast-food advertisements. For example, these promotions must be prohibited during children’s programmes or during prime-time broadcasting. Also the damage, which could appear after eating these junk food, should be labeled on the screen, so everybody can understand and estimate the future risks.
In conclusion, reducing aggressive promotions should become a widespread technology to avoid people from obesity.
