Many people believe that delinquency is caused by economic deprivation. Nevertheless, there are some people who believe that a person’s environment leads to a crime. Discussing both views is important because analyzing the main problem of people committing a crime can make the living area safe. I am going to compare the two different views and give an argument on this issue.
Firstly, many people claim that economic poverty leads to crime. This is because people in poverty commit a crime to live and survive in the society. For example, as people suffer from a lack of revenue, it is undeniable that people steal someone’s wallet or pocket related to money. Likewise, their mentality will become worse when compared to the rich. To illustrate, while the poor compare themselves to the rich, they can feel a sense of jealousy and be devastated by the situation. Eventually, their poor mentality causes them to increase the crime rate to escape their positions in poverty in spite of the illegality.
In contrast, some people assert that crime has resulted from environmental issues. The reason is that ecological factors, such as culture and relationships, affect their personality while growing. For instance, if their parents are robbers and continuously do illegal work like exchanging drugs or cocaine, children will learn it from their parents and become similar to their parents. As this shows, it is true that their environment can finally lead to a crime.
In conclusion, these two ideas about the main root of crime are both interesting. However, since the external circumstances, such as their natures and economic problems, have a definite effect on a crime, I assert that the main reasons for a crime are both human nature and economic poverty, which are of the same quality.
