It is obvious that healthcare professionals cure a great number of patients regardless their belief and personal background in hospitals every day. People have two split in opinions about this issue. One group belives that healthcare personnels should be professional under any circumstances and their priority have to health of their patiens. However, others belive that they are firstly human. It is a normal that they should right to refuse treatment under conflicted circimstance. Just because of this confliction medical staff also can not administer treatment appropriately. I think that all people would like to believe that they will be cured whenever they ill. Because every one has right to life.
The most essential rule of being a doctor or nurse that being human is over the cultural, ethnic, national and regional differences. All humans have right to be treated during their illness. Moreover, there are hundreds of divergent belief systems and identity patterns. People who have divergent religions live across the world. For example, if one of the passengers faints suddenly on plane, doctor should not ask the patient’s belief, and should apply medical treatment immediately. If people cannot apply these rules in their work life, they should not consider themselves to be healthcare staffs.
On the other hand, some people think that even if medical personnel have the oath, in harsh conditions, they have taken leave of their senses. For example, in a district where I lived, a little girl was suddenly lost. Ten years later, it was coincidentally revealed that her neighbor, who was a single man, raped and killed her. When the murderer was ill, a doctor did not want to treat him because he thought of his children and was unable to forget the killer’s inhuman behavior. Most people believe that the doctor gave an ear to his conscience by refusing treatment becuse he has also had sensitivity like us.
In conclusion, in my point of view, healthcare personnel ought to base on their conscience for all human living on the earth without discrimination. A fraction of the community considers that criminals do not deserve healthcare, but they have also punished by being isolated from their families and society. Healthcare personnels accept never doing factionalism due to the Hippocratic oath, and I expect that they should keep theirs word.
