In this era, part-time jobs are becoming more popular amongst people, this includes teenagers. As we all know, teenagers are mostly students that should focus on their education in school, yet, until today, we see many high school students getting involved in part-time jobs. The question is, should teenagers in school still be permitted to work part-time jobs?
Part-time jobs give experience and teaches teenagers how to progressively become independant without even realizing it. Teenagers fill in their spare time for something productive and learn to gain money on their own. For instance, a teenage high schooler may be used to recieving money from their parents for school. daily food, and supplies. However, when they work part-time jobs, they recieve their own money and learn how to manage their own finance.
Although the advantages may seem great, part-time jobs actually corrupt teenage high schoolers’ time. Students should be focused on developing their academic potential and soft skills instead of worrying how to pay for their daily life. Money shouldn’t be their main responsibility at their age. For example, a high school student on a Monday afternoon should be preparing for the next day’s subject at their school instead of being in front of a cashier and checking out other people’s groceries.
Part-time jobs for school students helps them learn to be independant and responsible. Nevertheless, it shouldn’t be their main responsibility when it comes to fulfilling their daily necesities. We won’t always know the reason behind why some teenagers do part-time jobs, but, in my opinion, part-time jobs should be permitted for teenagers under a few conditions, such as having a maximum amount of time in doing a part-time job so that they can manage their time between school and work better.
