It is undeniable that, in this growing world, information regarding culture and history is available on the internet. For that reason, some schools of thought are claiming that museums and art are not needed anymore. However, I disagree with this notion and will elaborate further on my reasons in the ensuing paragraphs.
To commence with a former view, although it is true that everything can be founded online, museums and art galleries are sources of income for the government. To be more precise, the government can generate revenue from the entry fees of museums, especially from international individuals. Museums and art galleries are for entertainment purposes; they should not be shut down. Take the Taj Mahal in Agra, for example, is one of the seven wonders of the world and has gained more popularity in recent years. Thousands of people visit the Taj Mahal every day. Thus, museums not only increase the population but also offer historical insights.
Furthermore, another reason behind to not find information online about culture and history is that while the internet may offers abundant information and images , not all are trustworthy materials. Some websites display fake pictures, which makes people confused and provides inappropriate information. In addition to that, sometimes it is not enough to understand the actual size of the picture, and individuals cannot feel the art virtually. Hence, physically visiting museums and galleries is much more appropriate for understanding historical events.
In conclusion, no one can deny that technology is growing rapidly and anything can be discovered on the internet; while, the internet will never be able to specifically show things. Museums provide a true representation of history, art, and culture.
