Quite often, there is a popular argument that the professional
sportspersons are earning huge amounts of income and spending funds on sports is not a sensible choice, instead, spending money on vital services is much more important. Most developed states are well-known for their excellent qualities in healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation. Because of this, these services require enough finances to prosper and they play a most essential role in the community because human lives depend on them more than other factors. For instance, if a person has health issues this individual relies on high-quality treatment and if the hospital the person goes to does not include sufficient drugs and the knowledge of doctors is not mastered, their frustration is inevitable. Thus, they seem to believe that sportspeople do not deserve huge amounts of salary since they do not have a significant role in society as educators and medical employees.
The comparison made above does not seem to be the most rational, however. Some people say that there are numerous type of sports that attracts millions of audiences ranging from football, volleyball to skiing, which can enhance their health and entertain them to a certain extent. Football, in particular, is very popular for its amusement where the individuals can get an adrenaline rush and their body releases a considerable amount of endorphins that can alleviate stress and anxiety which is much more efficient than many other health favors. What’s more, the sport can be watched online and live from everywhere and at all times, with a TV and social media, the most popular cheapest way of watching the game, being portable and user-friendly.
In conclusion, I side with those who believe the salaries of athletes are
fair. If importance is to be compared, health and enjoyment factors must be used instead of economics and business, it must be mentioned that only a minority of sportspeople reach a point where they can make millions. For every rich athlete, hundreds never came close to making much in their sports careers.
