Having an overseas education has become a dream for many young generations due to many benefits they can receive when being sent to another country. Although this may lead to some changes in students’ living conditions but they should better consider its merits regarding a higher employment prospect and possibility of learning from new cultures.
On the one hand, some people are afraid that having students study abroad can let them experience culture shock and light illness because of unfamiliar environment at the place they are living. This can be explained by the differences in weather and customs among different countries. When an Asian student comes to an European country for higher education, she may struggle with the cold climate and erratic temperature at the first place, throughout that continent, it is around lower than 20 degree celsius in the morning and can drop down to less than 10 at night, which is very harsh for people are used to living in tropical areas. Given another point, some students may consider it is challenging for them to adapt to new styles of living, from clothes to social etiquette.
On the other hand, I believe the aforementioned drawbacks are short-term factors and every student has to face when they first get exposed to new place, the advantages of studying abroad from my perspective are far more significant. First and foremost, those learners are able to secure a better job after they graduate from university, this is attributed to the more specialized knowledge and creative ideas they have been given from another education system. As a result, they are more likely to attract potential employers and get paid well for their positions. Moreover, besides studying purpose, some are seen to be interested in the native cultures and places as they are no longer feeling lost among strange people, instead, learning in school abroad helps undergraduates broaden their horizon through making new friends and communicating more with native speakers.
In a conclusion, the advantages of getting international education totally outweigh its disadvantages regardless of a few obstacles the students may face in a early stage. I believe changing studying environment provides learners with new opportunities regarding their career and social knowledge.
