There is no denying the fact that transportation is a crucial part for any country to be successful. While it is as commonly held belief that optimising public transportations leads to less traffic density and environmental issues, there is also an argument that convenience and independence could be achieved by utilizing private vehicles. This essay will analyse this topic from both points of view and express my opinion.
On one hand, optimising public transportation networks could be a key factor to increase the likelihood that the nation will host various sports, art, music events such as the Olympics, World Cup, and music tours. In other words, it will enhance tourism growth, leading to the growth of the country’s economy. In addition, public transportation is one of the criteria that people consider whenever they are looking for a travelling destination. For example, a statistical study conducted at London University concluded that the availability of public transportation is the third most crucial factor individuals look for.
On the other hand, acquiring a private car offers individuals more convenience compared to public transportation. It is also possible to say that personal vehicles provide more personalization options as people tend to have various needs. Moreover, owned vehicles grant people flexibility in choosing the time in which they want to travel and the freedom to determine the exact location they desire to go to. For instance, a large number of people do not actually set a plan for their weekends or holidays and they just make decisions spontaneously.
In conclusion, there are no easy answers to this question. On balance, however, I tend to believe that relevant institutions must collaborate with each other to provide members of society with the best experience, whether they decide to utilize private cars or public transportation methods.
