Artists have either the chance to succeed financially from their created works, or they have a hard time to survive. Some argue that government should support the struggling artists. I strongly agree that officials should take initiatives to help these artists.
One of the most notable reasons to resolve this problem is to promote equality of job opportunities in art industry in order to be competitive among other occupations. For instance, many high school students decide to pursue other careers aside from their outstanding abilities in art forms because other careers are high-paying jobs. Additionally, an image of artists has a negative influence to parents since some art forms such as a dance performance is closely related to dancers in nightclubs or illegal prostitutes. As a result, the size of art industry is stagnated since less people enter to these careers.
Another reason why governments should take steps to resolve this problem is the nature of delayed gratification in created arts. For example, some artworks require several years to gain recognition in public and some installation arts demand a significant amount of budget. Moreover, opportunities also have a vital role for success of artists such as the collaboration of talents to create movies, which requires efforts of actors, directors and production personnels in order to create films for audience. Consequently, some artists are not able to grow due to lack of supports.
In conclusion, governments should be responsible of supporting struggling artists in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the sector to others and also to incubate artworks in the initial stages.
