Band 6+: Some parents buy their children whatever they ask for, and allow their children to do whatever they want. Is this a good way to raise children? What consequences could this style of parenting have for children as they get older?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some families provide everything for their children, and let their children be free to do whatever they desire. While this way of parenting has some benefits to children, it could have negative consequences in their adulthood and future lives.

Supporting your children and giving them freedom, is a good way to boost their confidence and self-esteem because they know their parents are always there for them. It will also give them more facilities and options to overcome their problems. For example, when a child has access to the latest technology gadgets he could do his homework research faster and easier than the other students. Moreover, this freedom makes them brave to try new things which can increase their experiences.

In terms of consequences, it is important that, this behavior should have some limitations otherwise it might spoil the kids. Additionally, some skills and habits should be underpinned for children in their early years of life. For example, if a child never learn discipline in his/her childhood, he will not deal with the rules in his/her future career properly. Furthermore, these children may suffer from lack of problem-solving skill. Because all of their problems were solved by their parents. Facing with hard moments of life could be a daunting challenge for them.

In conclusion, although there are some positive aspects for this style of parenting, such as improving self-esteem, better options to overcoming problems, and gaining new experiences, without any boundaries it might have irreparable results on the children’s lives and attitudes.
