Capital punishment is legally killing some as consequence for a crime. In the realm of contemporary world, some citizens think this is an unethical way of punishing a criminal. With that, I would like to tackle about its advantages and disadvantages.
The main advantage of death penalty is serving justice to the victims. A number of people believes in the saying of “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”. Thus, citizens think that the criminal should be punished, the same way as how they committed the crime. Another advantage is this could reduce the crimes. Death is a very fearful punishment that everyone is afraid to experience and this idea can make us avoid in engaging criminal acts.
On the other hand, one of the disadvantages would be the risk of wrongful execution. As we are aware of, no country has a perfect justice system. Some of those that are behind the bars are even innocents and were just accused. In addition, death penalty is believed to be very expensive especially to those countries that has a strong human rights organizations.
To sum up, capital punishment is good way of showing the people that every actions has its own consequences. However, it is hold back as our justice system has a lot of flaws. As a result, death penalty is quite impossible to the majority of the countries.
