Education is a must to have in today’s society. Although, a number of people believe that it should be an individual’s responsibility to sponsor their studies themselves instead of relying on the government, but there are many who think that everyone should have free access to education. This essay will argue why the government should be the one responsible for providing all levels of education free of cost.

Many individuals support the idea that students should pay for the degrees or courses they enrol into. These people do not want their tax money to be useful only for a certain section of society but for something that everyone uses like roads. For example, one of my friend’s uncle is very rich and pays a huge amount of tax and according to him, government should spend the tax money to keep the roads in better condition instead of free education as it is of no benefit to him and he can pay for it by himself. Therefore, smaller the impact education have on people’s lives, lesser they would want the government to be involved.

Providing education free of cost is a very popular opinion these days. Many of the talented students come from poor backgrounds. They should be given an ample amount of opportunities to prove their worth. If talent doesn’t discriminate, then why education should? For instance, Abraham Lincoln couldn’t have achieved the success he did if he didn’t have access to the knowledge freely imparted to him. That is why, education should be given freely by the government.

This essay argued that why it is not a good idea to make the scholars pay for their studies. In my opinion, it is extremely necessary for the government to pitch in and make all kinds of education free for everyone.
